Driving licence in Togo: exam, documents and conversion, from the official portal
Directorate of Road and Rail Transport (DTRF)
In Togo, you prepare for the driving licence at an approved driving school, and the documents are set by the Directorate of Road and Rail Transport (DTRF). This page repeats the "Examen du permis de conduire" and "Conversion de permis de conduire" sheets of the official portal, with no price or delay those sheets do not give.
The essentials (information checked on 4 October 2026)
- Exam: be 18 or over, and have taken lessons at a driving school approved by the DTRF.
- Conversion: possible for a Togolese military licence or a foreign licence from a francophone country; five-year validity, renewable.
- Where: DTRF, national road no. 1, Agoè, P.O. Box 1295, Lomé; phone 22 51 42 63.
- The procedure is not online: you must go to the counter.

What the sheets do not say
The portal sheets give neither the total cost nor the delay: they show "N/A". Our earlier 35,000 FCFA figure and the "three to four weeks" had no official source. Ask the DTRF (22 51 42 63) before you pay.
